Sailor Roberts
Bryan W. "Sailor" Roberts (March 7, 1931 – June 23, 1995) was an American professional poker player born in San Angelo, Texas, who earned the nickname "Sailor" after serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He holds two World Series of Poker bracelets: the 1974 $5,000 Deuce to Seven Draw event and the 1975 WSOP No-Limit Hold'em Main Event, which he won for $210,000 by defeating Bob Hooks in heads-up play in a field of 21 players. He accumulated $266,650 in total live tournament earnings per The Hendon Mob. He was posthumously inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2012. In addition to poker, Roberts was a professional-level contract bridge player.
