Some absolute bangers in this one.

*Note from the photographer*

I love the challenge of poker photography in general, but the room here in St. Augustine is special. Strong overhead lighting that points straight down is great for poker players. Boards are lit up perfectly without the light shining in the eyes of the players. But for photography, this is a very mixed blessing. It leaves everyone in a baseball hat looking like a raccoon and players hands and forearms tend be blown out with super hot highlights.

On the other hand, the lighting is strong, provides lots of contrast, and the side lights, which are PokerAtlas green for this event, are fantastic for color. The photos, once I process them by hand to account for the strong overhead lighting, are brilliant and vivid. Though it takes a bit of extra work here, it's definitely worth it. I've never shot in another room even close to his in terms of lighting and the finished product is absolutely unique. I wish I could shoot here every day!
