Event #16 - $140 Super Sunday Optional Add-on — Wrap Up

The $25K Super Sunday at TCH Houston delivered on its promise and then some, clearing the guarantee during the final break and closing at 137 total entries to create a $26,400 prize pool. With 127 players taking the optional add on, stacks stayed deep for much of the day and the average hovered around 90 big blinds when late registration ended, setting the stage for a long, technical grind to the finish.

As the field narrowed, a mix of local regulars and traveling talent pushed into the money, with notable cashes including Mesut Dundar in ninth for $690 and T L Parasuram, Elmo Mitra, and Matthew Marvin all earning $580. The final table featured a balanced lineup with Manoop Dawar, Phu Vo, and Charles Sims all making runs, but the late stages belonged to Joseph Cappuccio, who navigated the pressure spots and kept his stack trending upward as pay jumps increased.

Cappuccio ultimately closed it out in a heads up battle against Jared Talarico, denying Talarico the trophy and locking up the top payout. Cappuccio earned $6,770 for the win and the Atlas trophy, while Talarico collected $4,500 for second. Daniel Wu rounded out the podium in third for $3,000, capping a one day event that combined deep stack play early with a sharp, high leverage finish late.

Ethan Doan, hailing from Houston, Texas, has been a poker player for five years, but has only been serious about tournament play for a year and a half. He began his poker journey in 2021, playing in home games with friends at modest stakes. Known to his poker circle as "E," Ethan made a significant impact early in his tournament career by securing second place at the Trailblazer Main Event at TCH Austin, earning over a hundred thousand dollars. This achievement was pivotal in his decision to pursue poker professionally. Ethan is now focused on achieving his next goal: winning a WSOP bracelet.

The Super Sunday (Optional Add-On) event already looks like a winner. The event surpassed the ambitious guarantee during the final break, and we are now headed on with a total field of 137 players whittled down to 72 as of this writing. 127 of those entries took the optional add-on, so stacks are quite deep at the moment, with the average stack sitting at nearly 90 big blinds.

The Super Sunday is a one day event, so we will be finishing up late tonight with one happy player taking home the coveted Atlas trophy and $6,870.
