The Progressive Knockout Event was a big hit with 170 entries! Ram Tahhusoglu was ecstatic to play heads up with local legend Nabil Hirezi and the two joked and complimented each other in a wonderful display of respect and sportsmanship throughout a long heads up match that started with nearly 150 big blinds in play.

Tahhusoglu has nearly $50,000 in tournament winnings for his career, but this was his first trophy. As Tahhusoglu pointed out, Hirezi has an extensive trophy collection, and won the first WPT in the state of Florida, the $3,500 WPT Jacksonville bestbet Open, for over $200,000. As you can see above, Ram was all smiles with his trophy!

Justin Bold hails from Jacksonville, Florida, and has been immersed in the world of poker for 20 years, with the last five years marking his serious pursuit of the game. His introduction to poker came through playing with his grandfather, which sparked a lifelong interest. Over the years, Justin transitioned from video game poker to live games at the bestbet in Bayyard, where he was a regular presence. The online poker boom further fueled his passion, eventually leading him to travel for tournament series starting five years ago.

A notable highlight in Justin's poker career is his victory in the Stars and Stripes tournament at bestbet on Memorial Day 2026, where he secured a win of over $60,000. Outside of poker, Justin owns a Steak ‘n Shake franchise located conveniently near the bestbet on Monument Rd. When not at the poker table or managing his business, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and kids and playing competitive softball.

Bold has $187,265 in live tournament winnings and is looking to add a big number to that at the PokerAtlas Tour stop in St. Augustine this week.

$100K No-Limit Kickoff — Wrap Up

The PokerAtlas Tour stop at bestbet wrapped up the Valuetown™ Kickoff with Danny Clarkson emerging as the winner. Clarkson's victory came after a day defined by steady pressure and a roller coaster of a heads up match. Clarkson navigated the late stages with control, picking his spots well and keeping opponents off balance as the money and final table implications tightened.

The final stretch featured the kind of high leverage pots expected in a deep field, with players forced into thin value bets and timely all in decisions as stacks compressed. Clarkson capitalized on those moments, maintaining momentum through the decisive confrontations and converting his edge into a tournament closing run.

The Valuetown™ Kickoff ultimately reflected the series’ draw at bestbet, leveraging a strong turnout into a monster prize pool. With the event completed and Clarkson crowned champion, attention turned to the next event on the schedule as players looked to get in on the next event.

Each flight seemed to be bigger than the last, and while a $100,000 guarantee in the summer in Florida with a buy-in of $300, but the whole county seemed to show up to support the series and the guarantee was crushed before the final two flights had even started. Free t-shirts disappeared by the end of Flight 1B, with players snapping up free swag as fast as they could get their hands on it, and final table hats from previous years were common. This stop in Jacksonville looks like a bigger hit every year and should be on the schedule for a very long time.

Chandler Usina hails from Saint Augustine, Florida, and has been playing poker for a decade, with a focus on live cash games in recent years. Usina's background in gaming has contributed to his strategic approach at the tables. One of his most memorable achievements in poker is flopping a straight flush to clinch a tournament victory. Outside of poker, he is pursuing a career in law enforcement.

While Usina doesn't have significant tournament results on the national stage, he is always near the top of the leaderboards at his local card room, bestbet in St. Augustine, Florida, and locals tell us that he is a ferocious presence in the cash games.

Some absolute bangers in this one.

*Note from the photographer*

I love the challenge of poker photography in general, but the room here in St. Augustine is special. Strong overhead lighting that points straight down is great for poker players. Boards are lit up perfectly without the light shining in the eyes of the players. But for photography, this is a very mixed blessing. It leaves everyone in a baseball hat looking like a raccoon and players hands and forearms tend be blown out with super hot highlights.

On the other hand, the lighting is strong, provides lots of contrast, and the side lights, which are PokerAtlas green for this event, are fantastic for color. The photos, once I process them by hand to account for the strong overhead lighting, are brilliant and vivid. Though it takes a bit of extra work here, it's definitely worth it. I've never shot in another room even close to his in terms of lighting and the finished product is absolutely unique. I wish I could shoot here every day!
